Did you know that Summer officially starts in 8 weeks!? Sorry I’m not sorry, but I’m already daydreaming of my NJ beach weekends out in the blazing sun.
From sunbathing & swimming to biking, hiking, horseback riding, etc – I’m anticipating a ton of outdoor activity this year, typical of me & how I like to spend my days off in the warm weather.
But what I’m secretly stoked about is that summer glow of a tan I’ll get that makes me feel super good about myself. Anyone else admit to that secret too?
Confession: I used to be one of those people that didn’t think about sunscreen…
I have the type of skin that gets one bad sunburn a year and then turns to dark tan and remains that way for the rest of the season, no matter how much or how little sun exposure I have going forward.
Also, I’ve had some painful childhood memories of getting sunscreen in my eyes after jumping in the water immediately after application (naturally) and the oil would sting and burn so much I felt my skin melting (so I compared it to.)
But as I’ve gotten older I’ve become WAY MORE AWARE of how my skin reacts to things that once never bothered it. As a result, SPF has become one of the guaranteed formulas involved within my beauty routine – from foundation to lotion. At the same time, SPF/true sunscreen has the tendency to clog pores and encourage breakouts. Yikes..
Since I was told my dry skin is prone to age quicker, there’s NO WAY I’ll be looking like a leathery seal in my future. So it’s time to take precautions that’ll save my skin yet keep it free from breakouts and burning sensations…
