Trip To Texas

I’M WEARING:
SCOTCH & SODA JACKET
SOUTH MOON UNDER SWEATER
FRAME DENIM
BED|STU BOOTS
REBECCA MINKOFF BAG

No you’re not being deceived by this post – this was 100% taken last weekend in Texas where the record temp hit an all time high of 34° F… Any hope of warmer weather would come the day following our departure (naturally.) I’m just thankful I 1) checked weather.com before packing and 2) hit the Scotch & Soda winter sample sale for the most appropriate winter jacket.

DAY ONE IN TEXAS

Despite the temps Texas was amazing, I wish we had one more day to explore there. My aunt and uncle live in Kerrville which is a good 2 hours from Austin / 1 hour from San Antonio.

We spent the first day exploring The Alamo and strolling the beautiful yet freezing River Walk, concluding with a beer at The Buckhorn Saloon where Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders and where Pancho Villa is rumored to have planned The Mexican Revolution. But in all honesty, we stopped in because we’ve never seen so many taxidermy animals on a wall… there’s even an elephant and giraffe mounted (yes, I asked & they’re real..)

DAY TWO IN TEXAS

Day 2 was spent exploring the historic German-established town of Fredericksberg where my aunt & uncle mounted a plaque of my late grandfather at the National Museum of the Pacific War, honoring his service during WWII.

After having one of the best turkey club sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life at the Vaudeville Restaurant, I had to trek back to a boutique store where I saw the prettiest colored glass steer skull. I thought about it all during lunch and decided it would be the perfect addition to my apartment décor.

The rest of the day was spent causally wine tasting at both the Pedernales Cellars & Becker Vineyards. Both places let us keep the glasses which I was super excited about considering all of mine have broken to leave me with a solid set of 3 from the original 9 I had…

Although our trip was short Texas was nothing short of amazing! I definitely plan to go back (when it’s actually warm) and explore more of the great state. I totally understand why Texans are proud & they’ve sold me on considering my future retirement there…seriously. Until next time!
