My wardrobe is an assortment of highs & lows. Not everything I own is designer, nor is everything a piece stemming from fast-fashion influence. In my opinion I find the strongest closet holds items of a mixed variety & quality. Personally, the only items I spend investment money on are pieces I know I will have for a lifetime, won’t go out of style, and remain neutral for an endless amount of versatility. For me, this includes (for the most part): handbags, shoes, and specific pieces of leather.

As I’ve gotten older, my body has changed; it’s stopped growing vertically and started growing horizontally; between my bones shifting out in a widening manner and my muscles gaining more volume from daily workouts. Clothes that used to run large on me now fit, and one’s that once fit like a glove have become small. That’s just where my body is most comfortable at in the moment, and I won’t be punishing myself by forcing it into clothing that simply no longer fits.

That’s why I don’t believe in spending a large sum of money on one particular piece of clothing that may not fit my body in a few years. I can’t guarantee things will or won’t change, but I know there are some parts of me that will remain the same (God willing) such as my foot size and my ability to carry a bag in hand or on my shoulder. Don’t get me wrong – I definitely have been gifted or have received nice pieces of clothing that I still own and will wear for as long as they continue to fit – but in general, my buying behavior leans more towards accessory investment rather than in the clothing department.
