Ah, mom jeans..remember a few years back when this style of denim went retro? I was 100% on-board with it and tested out a couple pairs in faded washes. However, most fit me like a boyfriend jean and sit comfortably at my hips – if you don’t know, this loose-fit and waist location combo visually makes you appear wider.

I’m someone who looks & feels better in denim with a mid to high-rise fit. But there are many days where I wish I had a touch more fabric to work with, especially on those bloat days where skinny jeans DO NOT make the cut.

It’s been a few years and in an effort to give the style one more try, I pulled on this white pair from Mott + Bow. All I can say is, “HALLELUJAH!” Not only do I get the high-rise fit but I also get the movement I’ve so desired, without appearing like I’m clearly wearing a looser pair of denim on purpose. Imagine this pair as the hybrid between a skinny jean and a straight-leg jean, with a fit that does everything right for the body to appear long & lean.
