Eccentric bands make everything more fun, especially when they break away from the silver & gold la-di-da solids.  These rings work the best alone, or with a very simple ring on the same hand.  Too much excitement can look stressful and overworked, in terms of the rest of your jewelry ensemble.  They almost count as statement rings, but less showboat-y and more approachable.
