We can all thank Britney’s 2001 VMA blue jean situation that triggered the ‘denim daze craze.’ Fast forward 15 years and variations of the Canadian Tuxedo are still sighted on the street. Of course, today’s take on the denim-on-denim has essentially ‘calmed down’ with patchwork/fringe textures and frequently settles for lighter shades in one uniform fabric.

I like to think this chambray jumpsuit & heeled sandal combination holds a strong runner-up title for today’s denim craze – I mean it’s Britney, betch; you can’t top that infamous approach. But you have to admit, the concept definitely stuck around long enough to be reformatted 2016 style.

This season is all about baring the cold shoulder so seeing the cut in jumpsuit form definitely makes this lightweight, breezy one-piece the ideal summer evening ensemble. Since I consider chambray/denim a neutral, your shoe options are close to endless;

Yet a denim style sandal caught my attention and made a perfect match despite the color variations. Just goes to show that denim-on-denim versatility continues to make an impact with today’s style choices, including my own (thanks for the inspo, Brit.)
