Ah pajama dressing – when wearing clothes you could sleep in suddenly becomes the street style must-have of the spring season [especially in matching sets!] Although it’s still too cold, wet, gross, and all around dirty outside to wear the finer things in bedtime wear we can still prep our transition above the waist, starting with the basics: the oversized striped button down.

My personal rule with oversized pieces on top is to coordinate with a skinny/slim style below the belt. Even the pajama sets we crave have a slender seam to keep the look far from frumpy at the points that matter – i.e. waist/hips. With a piece extra large such as this, adding a heel helps to avoid that short and squat appearance as well as dresses up the entire casual look.

Remember Bananas in Pajamas? My goal is to have a set just like that, in chic-er form. For now, this button down is a staple that we all should aim to have in our closets and if a child’s cartoon has beat you to it, shame on you – kidding! Shop similar below:
