Ever try on outfits that you would never consider on a daily basis and end up really liking them? Rarely do I purchase pieces I can’t match two outfits in my head with. But these shorts, how could I ignore them? I was in Scotland and tartan was EVERYWHERE. After thinking up one plain jane look, I haven’t worn them since..until now.

I figure with every bold printed color, pairing up with black can make the whole look work. With a top such as this one – in hi-low and cape form – I’ve stepped up my tartan game. Too bad these babies will have to retire once the chilly weather rolls in. Thankfully I have enough plaid to keep me covered all fall/winter long. Shop similar below:
