Life Lately: 5 Things

Hello Friends! It’s been a while since I’ve recapped a few things happening in my life lately. Fall is one of my favorite times of year because it sparks transition, which I try to incorporate into my daily routine & work habits. This is when I take a moment to think about what I can do to change or enhance the things I can control, from wardrobe to beauty to lifestyle, and give my best efforts to seeing them through.

SHOULD I GET A HAIRCUT?

I’ve been contemplating cutting my hair much, much shorter for fall/winter. I’m talking like 6 inches drastic. According to my IG Poll asking you guys, 89% of you guys said to chop it; but my mom (aka my biggest critic) said to keep it long…

It’s not that I’m afraid to cut my hair, I know it’ll grow back, but it took a while for it to get to this length & I’m not sure if I’m ready to say goodbye to my long pony and braid hairstyles. Plus, isn’t there an unspoken age limit where you can’t wear your hair this crazy long? Should I enjoy it while I still can?

If I do decide to cut it, I’d go for something like #22 in this list of hairstyles, including the balayage color choice. My hope is that cutting it might help me look my age, rather than 7 years younger like most strangers mistake me for. Not mad about it because clearly I’ll age well, but sometimes you just wanna look like you’re legal to be at the bar, yanno?

CLOSET CLEAN-OUT

Recently I went to town cleaning out & organizing my closets, as well as cabinets, drawers, and anything else that has accumulated clutter in the last 6 months since moving. I find going through everything after each season allows me to determine what I didn’t wear, & therefore get rid of. My plan is to take the better-quality items to Buffalo Exchange over the weekend and see what I can get for them. The rest will be filtered through friends & family, and whatever’s leftover will be donated.

WHAT’S ON MY WISHLIST

Following the selling/donating of the above, my plan is to recycle the money I’ve received towards purchases I’ve been eyeing for a while. Cleaning my closet allowed me to notice what my wardrobe has been lacking, so my hope is to replace the space with new items I will get more use out of. Some of the items on my fall wishlist include: a pair of black chelsea boots, these round sunnies, cozy sweaters appropriate for date night, and this beautiful mini backpack.

SLOW-COOKER & SEASONAL RECIPES

This season always gets me inspired to get more active in the kitchen. One of my go-to appliances to take advantage of this time of year is my crockpot because it does all the work for me. My goal is to share more of my cooking moments on the blog, as well as IG Stories. Tonight, I’ll be sharing a dinner recipe on IG that currently has me drooling thinking about it, so be sure to follow along if you’re curious to see what it is!

FALL READING LIST

Over the summer I asked my IG fam for some reading suggestions, some of which I read and found truly amazing: Sharp Objects (also watched the HBO series after finishing the book – so good!), The Couple Next Door (thrilling mystery with a great ending), and The Singles Game (tennis-inspired read).

Next on my reading list: You Are A Badass (for self-improvement guidance) & The Good Neighbor (another suspenseful thriller).

I’d love to know what you’re currently reading or suggest I read next in the comments below!
