Hello Friends! It’s been a while since I’ve had a consistent posting schedule & I apologize for that. Honestly, it has to do with a few things but the main reason I’ve been MIA with content is because I’ve been having difficulty feeling inspired. I think it’s due to the isolation that comes with working for myself. I spend a lot of the working week/each day ALONE and with June being a slow month, it’s been tough to feel excited about putting content together. Anyone else go through this sometimes? What I need is a healthy dose of creative energy from working in a group setting; I always get a spark of motivation when I do.
Nonetheless, I’m pumped we’re finally in the month of June because 1) it’s my birthday month, and 2) it’s the official start of summer. This time around is particularly exciting because it’s my Golden Birthday: I’m turning 28 on June 28th! One of my best friends also turned 28 on May 28 so we’re having a joint birthday celebration in 2 weeks at a bar rooftop in NYC. I’m spending my actual birthday weekend in Newport, RI to watch my boyfriend sail in an annual regatta. Lots to be looking forward to, for sure!
Along with these fun social events on my calendar, I’m also preparing for several projects with brands I’ve been a fan/customer of for years on my own! I love when I get opportunities like these because writing/sharing content about them comes so naturally and easily (as it should.) I can’t disclose any names yet, but you’ll know when you see them published here & on my IG @tobebright.

In case you missed it, here are a few things I’ve been up to lately:
My 10-day trip to Amsterdam with my boyfriend was AMAZING! I wrote all about it in this blog post, including our favorite spots to eat, grab a drink, and everything we did outside the tourist “norm.”
I recently got the IUD and recapped my experience in real-time on my IG – see highlight “IUD Xperience.” I was blown away by how many people reached out to me: sharing personal experiences, asking me questions, or praising me for sharing something “so real.” I’ll definitely be doing a blog post about it as soon as it’s been one month since getting it.
My childhood bedroom got a massive makeover and I have to say it turned out better than I ever expected! Take a look at the before & after transformation here. The before pictures will blow your mind!
I decided to treat myself to a few new pairs of slides & slingbacks to wear this summer. I’ll post a roundup of all my favorites – including styles from last year that are still available because they’re that great, truly – but so far, these wicker slingbacks and these dupe slides I’ve been wearing on repeat.

I get those moments all the time and what I always do is to just keep on going and not give up and eventually creativity will show up again and get us working. That’s a gorgeous outfit, I love the lightweight and fresh colour.
Yes! That’s so true, Marta. Gotta keep pushing & keep our eyes on the prize. xx
Thanks for sharing! I totally understand the feeling of being alone for most of the day since I work for myself too. It can be hard to get out 🙂
Ugh it can be so debilitating, esp when the month is soooo slow. Hardly any events on the cal :[ But I should prob appreciate this somewhat of a summer vacation for as long as I can lol but that can be hard to mentally do when you work for yourself, as I’m sure you know too. xx
Loved this post! I get into a slump all the time trying to come up with ideas! It happens… Glad you’re doing great though!
XOXO
Thank you Brigite! Def feeling more inspired now than I was a week ago, progress! xx
It feels tough when it comes to being inspired at times. Breaks are important and also connecting to friends and family outside of blogging.
