⇥ 3-Piece Workout Set: Ellie Active

During the first weekend in May, I challenged myself by signing up for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour!

For those of you not familiar (including myself until I signed up): this 40 mile bike tour is held annually on the first Sunday in May and allows for 32,000 cyclists to experience a bike ride in NYC unlike any other.

Run by Bike New York, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes and encourages bicycling and bicycle safety through education, community outreach and events, and sponsored by TD Bank; all proceeds from the Tour fund its free bicycle education programs. In 2017 alone, Bike New York taught bike riding and bike safety skills to more than 24,000 kids and adults throughout New York City!

We began this 40-mile, car-free Tour in Lower Manhattan (the start line is at Franklin St. and Church St.) and headed north on 6th Avenue through the heart of Central Park. We continued on to Harlem and the Bronx before returning south along the East River on the FDR Drive. From there we crossed into Queens and then into Brooklyn, where all 32,000 of us riders took over the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway before the heart-pumping climb up—and thrilling ride down—the breathtaking Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and into the Finish Festival on Staten Island.

Our journey ended in Brooklyn (purposely), finishing at 30 miles instead of completing the final 10. We made a lunch reservation at SUGARCANE (which helped serve as my motivation the entire tour) and celebrated with several rounds of beer!

Ellie Active May Flowers Outfit, Five Boro Bike Tour, Fitness, NYC, Schwinn Bike, Tilden of To Be Bright

As someone who only bikes one mile to the beach and has NEVER done something like this before, I have to admit that I’m very impressed with myself for being able to do such a feat. I rode my trusty Schwinn Hybrid (not even a fancy speed bike) and wore my Ellie ‘May Flowers’ Outfit from this month’s box so my group would be able to spot me in the sea of cyclists.

The opportunity to ride the streets of New York completely car-free was such an incredible experience. There’s nothing like seeing the city from this kind of point-of-view. I’m already planning on recruiting more friends to experience next year’s ride with me! Until then, I’ve brought my bike into the city to stay and intend on making use of these paths as often as I can.

‘MAY FLOWERS’ OUTFIT

BREEZE SINGLET TOP

This lightweight Breeze singlet flatters your figure with a relaxed fit that keeps you comfortable and cool during any of your workouts. It’s 88% polyester and 12% spandex and finished with wavy mesh contrast at the front neckline and down the middle back for an added design detail and optimal ventilation.

MOANA SPORTS BRA

An all over floral patterns this fun and flirty Moana sports bra, cut from 90% polyester and 10% spandex, complete with laced up front details, adjustable straps and removable cup pads for a customizable fit and ultimate comfort.

DANA CAPRI PANT

April showers brought May Flowers in this buttery soft Dana Capri. It’s made from 90% polyester and 10% spandex and finished with a 3” flat waistband and contrast paneling making it my favorite go to legging for Spring.
