FASHION WEEK is back again for the week of April 8 – 11.
The evening of April 9 hosted the Student Designer Showcase, where talented students show off their talents by designing a collection of their own to be judged and placed for awards, as well as gain experience and awareness towards developing their brands and aspirations.
Six unbelievably talented students entered this year’s showcase, but the winning collection demonstrated ‘re-vamping’ the structured and original menswear garments, the vest and ascot. Paul Williams, the winning designer shown in the image below, says the inspiration for his menswear line comes from his faith.
Fashion Week is hosted each year by The Fashion Board at USC, a group of students dedicated to expanding their knowledge of the fashion industry in its entirety. FB hosts and participates in such events to ensure maximum experience and knowledge within the fashion industry field.
I am fortunate enough to have one of my roommates (below) hold the Executive position on FB at USC, which means not only has this week been dedicated to each evening for her, but also she, as well as other group members, have achieved perfection for each evening so far.
Influenced by Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Collection, Sophie donned a checkerboard fitted dress, a neon open-front blazer, and black & white platform sandals (not pictured).
My other roommate went all out and shined in her outfit, graciously put together by Sophie prior to the evening’s start. Mel has on a black corset top, patterned silk-felt shorts, green clutch, and open toe heels; she completed the look with a top knot and a red lip.
As for myself, I could have stepped it up. The black top is a halter front with an open and exposed back; I paired this with white skinnies, LV mini clutch, and Jeffrey Campbell Litas.
Tonight’s the Finale Show, same place and time. I can’t wait to see how fabulous this evening will be, successfully concluding yet another Fashion Week at USC.
