When It Rains

Those summer storms. So relaxing when inside, but when you’re called out for a bit, the last thing you want to encounter is a humidity-filled storm cloud. So how do you tackle this seemingly atrocious situation as a girl on the go?

Overall, dark tones and colors are suitable for overcast grey skies. If you choose to use that palette, start with the darkest piece; I chose leggings – comfortable & perfect for quick movements in the rain.

Next, a comfortable cotton tee can match up with the leggings perfectly, but there’s the issue of feeling ‘underdressed.’ Manage that situation with the addition of a vest or some sort of outerwear piece that can loosely fit over your top of choice. With the light neutral top I have, the addition of a hunter green military vest keeps the look edgy, follows the dark tone scheme, & provides a more ‘ready to go’ feeling to leave the house with.

Lastly, sneaks or closed toe flats are the way to go; forget sandals unless you like the feeling of your feet under water in not-so opportune times. I chose my pair of charcoal sneaks to pair with my look. Grab your oversized bag (the one that fits an umbrella or rain jacket) & you’re ready to tackle the rain.

PS. If humidity makes you look like the Lion King, I suggest a top knot or side braid, just to keep things more interesting than the overdone pony.
