PINTEREST MADE ME DO IT! But in all honesty, how much do you think we spend yearly on beauty products that can easily be made at home, for half the cost? After performing a little research, there are quite a few things that are overpriced on your local pharmacy shelf. When I consider my go-to skin treatments I like to keep exfoliation in mind. Our skin is exposed to many different environments during the summer – salty water, sand, sweat in humidity etc. There’s nothing more exhilarating than scrubbing off all those built up layers (sorry, that’s the only thing that comes to mind.)
Which is why I decided to make my own DIY Brown Sugar Scrub out of three simple ingredients: Brown sugar, olive oil and vanilla extract. It took me two minutes to make and left my skin feeling as smooth as a baby’s. The best part, other than it being entirely accessible to create, is that it smells like cookies. Ah YUM. Another little tip: Try applying the scrub while shaving!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups brown sugar (lightly packed)
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup oil (I chose olive, but either will do)
- 1 tsp vanilla (for scent)
Mix em’ all up and place in a mason jar or container of your liking. I think my favorite part about this DIY was creating the logo for it. Hopefully this design gets a couple re-pins!

I do love vanilla scents especially the Bath and Body works Vanilla Bean Noel but their other vanilla scents have musk in them which I don’t like.
My favorite scent is anything fruity, like mango, coconut, or pineapple.
