2-in-1 Summer Coverups + $500 Nordstrom Giveaway Reminder!

I can’t resist a piece of clothing with versatility – especially during the summer months. There’s simply nothing better than throwing something on that you can wear to the beach for the day AND to the event/dinner/bar that same evening. Of course, the evening plans aren’t exactly relevant these days but you get the idea I hope.

I’ve always been drawn to easy dresses as pool/beach coverup options because of the simplicity behind them. But what many people, myself included at one time, fail to realize is that not all acceptable pool coverups are advertised as such. In shorter words, you can find a perfect coverup outside of the “swim section” – you’ll probably get more wear out of it as well.

While dresses are great coverup options, there’s also the understated romper/jumpsuit to consider. As you scroll below, take a look at some of the options out there that would work perfectly as a casual beach ensemble while perfectly acceptable to wear out & about as well.

Tunic Dress: Playa Lucila | Slides: Sam Edelman

..

One of the best 2-in-1 dress options out there is the tunic/shift dress. A bit shapeless, yes but its versatility trumps the overall fit. Honestly, I’d rather wear something loose and forgiving, especially on a hot summer day, than anything that hugs me like saran wrap. Plus, I like the adorable-ness of it.

The one’s I’ve linked here are not categorized as “swim coverups” but you shouldn’t be afraid to wear any of these to a sandy or chlorine-filled destination. If anything, the material making up these dresses are far more durable and longer-lasting than any sort of fabric representing a cheap coverup option.

Jumpsuit: Madewell (sold out, similar here) | Slides: Sam Edelman | Bag: STAUD | Sunnies: Ray-Ban + Tortoise Chain

..

Never underestimate the power of a jumpsuit/romper, especially as a coverup option. It’s a touch more unique and less predictable than a dress, allowing it to stand out regardless of its plain color or lack of print. Of course, bold & bright jumpsuits are just as fun to wear as well!

I personally find rompers/jumpsuits best for boat days, where the wind picks up just a tad more. They offer slight protection from accidental flashing, which isn’t a big deal if you’re still wearing your bathing suit. But if you happened to take it off, the romper/jumpsuit will have your back (& booty.)

Blue Boho Dress | Pink Cami Dress | Sunnies: Ray-Ban

..

Lastly, the other dress option I strongly recommend is the easy, breezy tank dress. On the days it’s far too hot for anything with sleeves, this is your go-to coverup. I found both these options on Amazon and have been more than thrilled about them. They’ve machine-washed wonderfully, which has been about 20x now, and still holding up great.

I’ve also worn these two out & about, not solely for pool & beach occasions. So far I’ve gotten compliments just about every time I wear them each around town. Personally find these both great everyday dress options.
