HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!
We did it guys; we’ve officially made it through the winter. Man, it feels SO GOOD to be typing that phrase out. These last 3 months haven’t been the most inspiring for me & I’m convinced I fell victim to seasonal affective disorder as the reason. But let’s face it – most of winter is downright SAD.
But today is a different day. I woke up to birds chirping the other morning (in Jersey City mind you..) & it sparked an excitement in my veins I’ve needed to feel for a while – things are changing, & for the better!
In celebration of getting back on track & embracing the momentum I’ve been missing terribly, here are a few things I’ve jotted down that I’d like to accomplish by the end of this spring season:
—
Join a Book Club
Reading is one of my favorite past times that I rarely make time for anymore. “Life continues to get in the way” is an excuse I’ve used to the point of exhaustion for several years now. The truth is: I can easily make time to read more by simply swapping it with TV time.
A few of my friends have mentioned they’ve started or joined a book club to help encourage themselves to read more. I personally think this is the best solution for me to achieve this goal. I’ll be holding myself responsible for finishing one book a month, as well as having a legitimate reason to gather with friends over wine ‘to discuss.’
…
Deep Clean & Declutter the [Entire] Apartment
This sounds pretty standard for spring. But over the year of living here, I’ve somehow accumulated FAR MORE than my apartment is designed to store. Not to mention, I’ve been heavily influenced by the Marie Kondo Effect.
Rather than just going through my clothes, I’m doing a massive deep cleaning dive into EVERY shelf, cabinet, drawer, and storage bin I own. I’ve already started the purge and the excitement of seeing my apartment in a more minimalist light is very encouraging.
PSA for those interested: I’ve been selling some of my nicer pieces of clothing & pairs of shoes on my IG Stories. Check out my “For Sale” IG Highlight to see what’s still available for a super bargain – my prices are trés cheap!
…
Take a Flower Arrangement Class
I love all things plants. Since I was 10 years old, it’s my dream to join The Garden Club of America someday – no joke. My mom has been involved with it for as long as I can remember & I’ve always (not-so-secretly) wanted to participate in the projects and shows GCA has.
Since I’m still considered “too young” to join my local chapter, I can spend this time grooming myself for my future hobby. Starting with learning the proper art of flower arranging. I’ve been researching classes I can take in NYC & getting so excited about it!

I plan on DECLUTTERING! It is one of my favorite things to do in the spring! I also love to get out in the yard and my flower beds! We have the land for a garden, so I am planning on tackling that this spring!
I wish you the best of luck in accomplishing your goals. I’m very happy spring is here as well, the warm weather is finally approaching and I can’t wait!
These sneakers are giving me life!
Hi there Tilden! This is my first time visiting your blog and I have to say I just loved reading this post and soaked up every word. Spring is a special time of year that inspires us to bring positive things into our lives and look forward to times to come. I’m working on some similar goals – I’ve been knee deep in decluttering every drawer and closet in my house! And I’ve also taken up reading again and it feels SO GOOD – I have to say, I think loading the Kindle app to my phone has made it the easiest for me. That way I can squeeze in a chapter on my lunch break or read a few pages while waiting in line somewhere without having to carry my larger e-reader (or a paperback) with me. I also just recently discovered the Libby app where you can borrow e-books for free with a library card (which I signed up for online and didn’t even have to go into the library for)! I look forward to hearing what books you’re reading! And also hope we get to see some of your flower arrangements too :)!

I would love to join a book club. I actually thought about trying to establish one in my HOA but I am not really sure where to start! I too will be decluttering but mainly my closet because the good Lord knows it is a hot mess. Happy Spring! XO, Courtney
