Kicking off Monday in something that’s not all black, white or grey! I know, I never thought I’d see the day either..at least during the winter. Do you ever feel like wearing bright colors during the months of Jan-March royally piss people off? Maybe it’s just a New York morning commute issue or it’s all in my head (probably) but there’s definitely a stare-down vibe when a color pops in a crowd of dark neutrals.

To make a color winter-friendly and not blind the eyes of grumpy New Yorkers, it’s important to consider the shade of the piece you’re considering. In this case, plum purple and anything darker isn’t as aggressive as a pastel – and when paired with neutrals in the forms of cozy turtleneck sweaters and booties, the look becomes more muted. Consider it a way to satisfy your color-itch in a winterized manner for the time being. Think about it this way, only a month and a half until the official start of Spring! Ah yay!
