Remember themed parties – or any party or social gathering larger than 25 people? They’re truly starting to feel like a thing of the past… Like will Halloween be cancelled this year!? I honestly have no idea when we’ll have the opportunity to freely celebrate any kind of event or occasion – my guess is next year, if we’re lucky.

Not to be the bearer of bad news on a Monday (lol) but these are real things that are totally ok to think about (outloud) at times. That’s why I’m all about getting “dressed up” for drinks on the backyard patio these days. Any sort of “occasion” I can find a purpose to get dressed for is my new jam – whether it be a small birthday gathering with close friends or literally sitting outside the house with a beer alone.

Thomas and I have made sure to always have some sort of date night 1x a week pre-pandemic, where we physically leave the house and go wherever we can to drink/dine & catch up without work distractions. Nowadays, date night is more essential than ever because we literally feel like we don’t see or talk to each other, even while in the same house, except for in the morning with coffee or by 7pm when finally pulling ourselves away from our computers.

To make this weird time we’re in more exciting with regards to date night, I’ve found wearing a fun summer dress to be the solution. From open backs & pom poms, to ruffles & tassels, to tie dye prints & rainbow colors – they brighten things up, keep things interesting with the details and ultimately make me feel so happy to wear – which is most important.
