Going ‘Commando’ | 3 Summer-to-Fall Outfits

Can you believe it’s already August!?

We’re in the last ‘official’ month of summer and it blows my mind how fast the season came & went. Pretty much since the start of Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale, I’ve noticed the transition of fall attire hitting every store & website I browse.

I don’t know about you guys but the 90 degree weather we’re still dealing with isn’t getting me stoked about buying knit sweaters just yet…

Needless to say, the summer season will be over before we know/want to acknowledge it. This means that awkward time of year, when its not quite summer anymore but it doesn’t feel like fall yet, is upon us too.

I’m not someone who likes to immediately rotate my closet with seasonal attire just because the calendar says so. Instead, I find ways to extend the wearability of my summer clothing by coordinating them with more transitional pieces in my wardrobe.

From light blazers to oversized button-downs, as well as a soft introduction of leather, I’ve partnered with Commando, one of my favorite all-season brands, to share 3 outfits ideas that you can incorporate into your every day style during this transitional time.

ps, I’m sharing these 3 looks in more detail on @wearcommando‘s IG stories today too!

CASUAL SLIP DRESSING

Wearing:  Mini Cami Slip in small/medium
Occasion to Wear:  Running errands, low key brunch/lunch/dinner

First outfit idea on the roster is the pairing of a cami slip dress with an oversized button-down top. When the weather is still warm but a slight breeze requests the addition of a lighter layer, I like having something a bit more oversized to balance out the form-fitting slip underneath. For approachability, I chose to sport a pair of white kicks to give this look a more laid-back impression.

As slip dresses are normally designed to be worn underneath a sheer garment, I like the idea of giving them more purpose with subtle exposure; the addition of an oversized top that acts as a light outerwear layer achieves such a concept.

Along with black, this Mini Cami Slip also comes in colors white & beige

BLAZER + LACE

Wearing:  Tulip Lace Cami in small/medium
Occasion to Wear:  Casual meetings, hanging with friends

Second outfit idea brings together two of my favorite summer pieces – a lace camisole & denim cutoff shorts – with a relaxed, blush boyfriend blazer. This particular blazer’s fabric is exceptionally light & airy; and similar to the oversized button-down concept above, it acts as a smart layer addition to help balance out the more fitted pieces of this ensemble.

Given this lace cami is sheer in nature, I was pleasantly surprised how well it blended with my nude strapless bra underneath. I also experimented with a sticky bra, which I would’ve worn if the 90 degree weather during this shoot wasn’t causing me to sweat so much!

Along with white, this Tulip Lace Cami also comes in colors black & beige/ivory

LADY IN LEATHER

Wearing:  Faux Leather Bodysuit in small/medium
Occasion to Wear:  Date night, work event

Lastly, here’s an outfit that brings together a print representative of summer with a key piece everyone should have for fall. By pairing this structured leather bodysuit with a bright, frilly skirt, this look makes me feel like I’ve successfully blended the best of both seasons.

Although it’s too warm out to sport this bodysuit just yet, I can’t wait until it becomes a full-time essential in my fall wardrobe. I keep imagining the combos I can coordinate it with, ranging from looks that can easily take me from day-to-night, on both dressy and casual occasions.

WHICH LOOK IS YOUR FAVE!?

I hope one of these 3 outfits will help serve as inspiration for upcoming transitional outfits on your horizon. The best part about blending seasonal attire is the endless amount of combinations you can put together, all unique to your personal style & preference.

Special thanks to Commando for partnering with me on this post!
