If NYC is neither your habitat, frequent destination nor your comfort zone, it can be more than overwhelming. Here’s the good news: With one simple mindset, the island of Manhattan’s intimidation factor will shrink in size dramatically.
New York is a grid system. When seen on a map, avenues are vertical and go East to West in terms of number name. Streets run horizontally and like a thermometer, the numbers go up as you go North and vice versa by going down as you head South. The Villages and Financial territories are for the daring and familiar if “getting lost” isn’t a thing for you but in general, you can get from Point A to B when thinking in terms of intersections.
Back to the fashion aspect of this blog – this sweater reminded me of New York and is the reasoning for my tip above. During the winter, a cropped knit version is very much acceptable especially when paired with high-waisted pants. Since it’s still moody, black and grey continue to be my staples this season.
Although I’m sure many people already know their way around, I hope I’ve helped someone who hasn’t yet and intends to visit. So when the opportunity to hail a cab or tackle the concrete jungle on foot, you’ll have a better sense of direction and a little less stress on the mind. Shop similar below:
NY is on our wishlist for our 2015 travels! Thank you for the tips.
Love the outfit – and thanks for linking up at #AllAboutYou where I’m cohosting with the lovely Zaz.
