Life Lately: December Plans + A Great Christmas Playlist

Can you believe we’re in the last month of 2019!? I swear this year went by so fast, but that’s probably because it’s the first time, in a long time, that I’ve enjoyed all 12 months of the same calendar year (lol) That phrase really does speak the truth: ‘Time flies when you’re having fun.’ Nonetheless, Happy December Friends!

I have so many things to look forward to this month, and I’m not just including the obvious #Christmas. One week from today (12/11) is my official  ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY with Thomas 😍 I say official  because we mutually decided not see other people a few months before the day he formally asked me to be his girlfraaand via flowers and a card. Ugh, my heart still melts when I think about that moment almost a year ago; It caught me completely by surprise too…but more on “our story” next week; stay tuned if you’re into that can’t-eat, can’t-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kinda stuff.

HERE’S WHAT ELSE IS ON THE DECEMBER CALENDAR

12/7 | Attending our first – & prob only – Christmas Party of the month, since we’ll be away the rest of December following the 19th.

12/11 | Celebrating our One Year Anniversary + ice skating at The Rink at Rockefeller Center (something I’ve always wanted to do on my NYC Bucket List.)

12/12 | Anniversary Dinner at The Polo Bar 🤩 …I still CANNOT believe I got a reservation, and on Open Table of all sources! I actually made a calendar reminder to call exactly one month ahead to make a reservation (FYI for anyone wanting to go in the future) but by the time the phone lines opened at 10am on 11/11, the line was non-stop busy. I didn’t stand a chance trying to get connected to anyone who could make a reservation over the phone, so I randomly checked Open Table to see if there was another day we could go. And just like destiny, there were (2) spots open on 12/12 for 5pm and 5:15pm. Without hesitation, I snagged the 5:15pm and now we’ll get to experience/check off yet another NYC bucket list box!

12/19-23 | Taking a red-eye flight to London & meeting T for 4.5 days, since he’ll be finished with his week-long work trip in Amsterdam by then. BTW, we figured out our flight seats for the return home – Premium Plus Economy, baby! In case anyone was following that drama back in October…what a nightmare 😅

12/24 | Back home for Christmas Eve!

12/25 | Christmas!

12/31 | Spending New Year’s Eve in Hoboken with some of our good friends, keeping it low key because…

1/1 | New Year’s Day, we’re gonna try to get our first ski sesh in & hit the slopes if weather permits. We’ll prob go to Hunter Mountain for the day, someplace easy to get to & warm up our rusty selves.

TOLD YA WE HAVE A LOT GOING ON!

It’s a jam-packed month but I couldn’t be more excited for every single day leading up to & in-between each marked date. This is honestly one of the first moments, in my adult life, where I’m feeling pure, genuine happiness during this time of year. Since entering my 20’s, December had consistently been a tough month for me & one that used to feel somewhat superficial, as I’d generally be covering up some sort of internal battle within me by distracting myself silly with holiday cheer. But this year, the happiness I’ve longed for feels embedded in my bones. Although I’ll admit it seems like my relationship with T seems likely the reason for this, it’s only just a bonus. The reason I’m so happy is because I’ve learned to love myself the way I always deserved to be loved; once I found my light, all the rest found me (including T.)

Okaayyy that’s enough sap for this post, but hopefully someone will appreciate reading the above in a relatable or inspirational way. I’m always striving to be an open book & that’s what my blog posts should reflect from time-to-time, right? Cool cool 👍🏼

Finally, I mentioned a great Christmas Playlist in today’s post title & that’s exactly what I’m delivering to you below. Enjoy!
