What I think draws me to them most is the simplicity of the seasonal style & the ease of throwing it on. With shorts, you have to consider a few more pieces of clothing (i.e. tank or blouse, belt or no belt, etc.) Don’t get me wrong – I’ll style a short and wear it any day, but there’s something about a dress that makes me feel a touch more “sophisticated” when I go to the grocery store (LOL what a time to be alive.)
On another note – summer dresses have a lot of functionality to them. Most are easy, breezy, comfortable and can transition from day-to-night pretty easily. I have plenty of dresses I’ve worn to the beach & then to the bar (back in the day.) Now it’s more beach-to-backyard BBQ but hey, it works for me!
Lastly, this particular print style I’m drawn to most – known as “ditsy floral” – may appear basic at first glance, but it’s actually one of the most flattering, versatile prints out there in my opinion. It’s not bold and striking in color, but it’s an approachable print you can wear into the Fall season – just swap those sandals for a pair of booties, accessorize & you’re set.
