I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect trouser jean that I can wear all my cute ballet & Mary Jane flats with. Out of multiple pairs ordered & returned, this pair from Citizens of Humanity resulted as the winner! And I’m so excited about my discovery that I felt it deserved a permanent place on the blog.

As far as denim goes, this pair is so soft AND fitted in the booty. In my recent experience of trying on many styles, not a lot of trouser jeans can accomplish such a thing of accentuating what shouldn’t be drowning in fabric. And as a postpartum mama, the last thing I want to draw attention to is a droopy-looking behind.

Once I determined this pair was the winner, I settled on my size which turns out to be the same as my pre-baby body. MAJOR WIN. Not gonna lie, I teared up at the realization that my hard work this past year has gotten me back to the jean size I once was at.

Here’s where the pair hits, which I’d say is right below the belly button or right at it. For reference, I’m 5’6″ & have a longish torso. Yet I found the length to be just right & I’m not tripping over excess fabric when walking. Something to keep in mind when determining your size.

I’m so glad flats are back in terms of relevancy. I’ve always found them so chic and sophisticated, and much more preferred than anything with a heel (IMO). The four pairs shown above are some of the best ones I’ve gotten over the year in terms of comfort and softness of the leather.

I’d say the only one that feels more “stiff” around the sides when worn would be the Loeffler Randall Gingham Mary Jane. But I didn’t get a blister or noticeable rub from wearing. In terms of the softest pair, the brown Schutz Arissa ones I’m wearing are like butter & I HIGHLY recommend. However, I sized up 1/2 just in case it would be too narrow at the toe + happy I did. The other two pairs – Madewell Greta Mary Jane & Tory Burch Ballet Loafer – are the perfect mix of structure + soft leather.
