A couple weeks ago I attended probably my favorite outdoor event to date – not to mention the human being behind the occasion is one of my FAVORITE musicians in life. In celebration of the summer solstice, Dave Matthews’, alongside award-winning winemaker Sean McKenzie’s vineyard label Dreaming Tree invited friends to an evening of great food, wine and friends in what I would call the secret garden of New York City.
Naturally I’ll start with what I wore for the occasion; anticipating a cooler evening I opted for a long-sleeve romper that fit an elegance-mood evening but was still flexible and free enough for an outdoor event. The choice of a wide block sandal for the grass was definitely a great choice in terms of footwear and having a small bag to worry about rather than anything larger was very kind for my shoulders. I worked a long ass day before attending this night of much needed wine & food rest/relaxation.

For the first time, we got to meet Dreaming Tree co-conspirator and Dave Matthews Band Head Chef, Fiona Bohane, as she introduced her new Recipes from the Road – a collection of dishes created by Bohane and inspired by the cities visited on tour with Dave Matthews Band.
The event highlighted select Recipes from the Road dishes, including a grilled halloumi with strawberries, zucchini caprese with tomato vinaigrette, Mediterranean chickpea cakes, steak with braised white beans, and pulled chicken with blackberry BBQ sauce.
Winemaker Sean McKenzie invited guests to taste through The Dreaming Tree portfolio and paired select wines with Bohane’s dishes throughout the event. We were also introduced to the just released Dreaming Tree 2015 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, a new fresh and juicy summer white with tropical fruit aromas and flavors of grapefruit and lime.
Personally, chardonnay is my favorite type of wine and receiving a bottle to enjoy just in time for my birthday was certainly a treat! Special thanks to Friends of the Dreaming Tree for throwing such an awesome event, as well as Craig Barritt / Getty Images for capturing one of the most gorgeous evenings on camera. Hope to enjoy evenings like this again & very soon this summer!
