Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

⇥ Heathered Jumpsuit: Banana Republic | Heels: Banana Republic (old, similar here)

Let’s be honest, I know half of you guys haven’t thought of what to get your Mom/Grandma for Mother’s Day yet and the pressure’s on to figure something out in 3 days. If you’re in this predicament, SHAME ON YOU….

Kidding!

I’ve been in this boat too and ended up feeling the harsh guilt on the day of as a result. Therefore in an effort to avoid this happening to me ever again, I’ve made a good list of options that make for thoughtful gift ideas; ones you can make a decision on with little time to spare & get away with it appearing planned way in advance!

TANGIBLE

For mamas who prefer/expect to receive a physical gift

NEST Fragrances Reed Diffuser/Candle

This brand is BY FAR the best one out there & becoming incredibly popular in NYC. If you’re not sure what scent you think she’ll like best, you can’t go wrong picking between best sellers Bamboo or Lemongrass & Ginger. Personally I think the reed diffusers are more effective because they’re continuous, but the candles are very delightful when lit!

Available for next or 1-2 day delivery on Amazon Prime.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Color

Trust me when I say that there’s nothing more prestigious-feeling than lining your lips with any sort of Chanel color. The formula is designed to be long-lasting, moisturizing, and incredibly flattering on anyone.

Personal Faves: Rouge Coco Shine – Hydrating Sheer Lipshine (#62 ‘Monte Carlo’), Rouge Double Intensite – Ultra Wear Lip Colour (#48 ‘Soft Rose’), & Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur – Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayon (#21 ‘Warm Rosewood’)

Available for next or 1-2 day delivery on Amazon Prime.

Jo Malone Hand Cream/Perfume

Here’s another luxurious beauty must-have every mother deserves/will become addicted to after experiencing first hand how delightful this brand is. My mom prefers the lotion over the perfume, as she finds it to last longer on her skin; I’m the opposite and think the perfume has better longevity. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

Personal Faves: Blackberry & Bay, Peony & Blush

Available for next or 1-2 day delivery on Amazon Prime.

Bouquet of Flowers

Can’t go wrong with the traditional option of a bouquet of flowers. If you don’t opt for a local/personal florist, there are several boutique and nationwide mail-order flower companies that deliver beautiful arrangements as quickly as 1-day!

Northeast/NYC Boutique Favorites: Ode à la Rose, The Bouqs, UrbanStems, Roses Only

Nationwide Go-To’s: ProFlowers, 1-800-Flowers, Teleflora

Available for same, next, or 2-day delivery

Basket of Favorite Treats / Wine

Put together a basket of her favorite treats/snacks/wine/beverages for her to indulge. Treat it like an Easter Basket, but for ya mama!

Handwritten Card

A classic, can’t go wrong card. Be sure to HANDWRITE (not type); these days, the time that goes into writing a card is what counts the most (sad but true..)

ACTIVITY

For mamas who prefer experiences/memories over tangible gifts

Spa Day / Blow Dry Bar

Treat her to a relaxing vacation at your local day spa. Book her the works – facial, massage, mani/pedi, etc. If she’s not the spa-going type, perhaps a mother-daughter trip to a blow dry bar (that’s what me & my mom did last year!)

Tickets to Broadway Show / Sports Game / Musical Performance

Yes, there’s a way you can get last minute tickets and it won’t cost you an arm & a leg to get them! I recently found this amazing app called Gametime, which allows last minute tickets to be purchased and sold at relatively affordable prices depending on the seat location, venue, demand, etc.

From sporting events, to Broadway shows and musical performances, you can grab tickets as quickly as the night of in some circumstances. The best part is being able to physically see what your view will look like, based on the image that displays where the seats are exactly located.

Cooking / Wine Pairing Class

There’s no better way for memories to be made other than time spent in the kitchen, so why not treat your mom/grandmother to experience a cooking class with you. If cooking isn’t your thing, wine pairing would be just as effective – if not educational!

Museum / Gallery Exhibit

Spend a day visiting some of the most infamous museums / galleries in your area. Most of them are free to visit and peruse, only passively asking for a small, optional donation at times. You can donate $1 or $0.01 if you’re feeling stingy lol.

Trip to The New York Botanical Garden

This is more geared towards those of you based in/near NYC or if planning a trip during Mother’s Day Weekend/this Spring or Summer. The New York Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful destinations I’ve ever visited, and each week has something new going on for those who attend. Even if you went back-to-back, you’d still find something new to experience during your visit.
