A frequent piece I’ve been seeing for fall ensembles is the incorporation of a satin midi skirt. Although many of us can agree we love the idea of it, just as many of us might question how to make it work as an every day wardrobe essential, rather than just for dressier occasions.
I’ve teamed up with one of my favorite local boutiques from my hometown in NJ – Lucki Clover – to show you two ways to style a satin midi skirt for every day wear this fall season. Hopefully these two looks will help to inspire you when trying a satin midi skirt out for yourself!
LOOK ONE
Cozy Sweater + Sneakers
…
One way to make a satin midi skirt more approachable for every day is the addition of a cozy, neutral sweater. I love this one from Lucki Clover because of its balloon-sleeve detail and the fact it’s slightly cropped to hit right at the top of the skirt; not to mention, the material is so soft & not itchy which is a huge plus!
Sneakers, for the most part, make every outfit feel less dressy by default. I prefer sneaks over any other flat because they’re sporty & functional for all day wear. I’d normally opt for my go-to white leather kicks for this look but since the sweater was already a similar solid color, I figured my printed Golden Goose Superstars would make for a nice, subtle statement.
LOOK TWO
Corduroy Jacket + Booties
…
If you’re looking for a step up from the sweater, then consider layering a corduroy jacket over a simple rib tank. I fell in love with the olive green color & frayed crop detailing of this find from Lucki Clover. I sized up to a medium for an oversized look, but also to ensure I had room if I wanted to wear it over the sweater as well. This rib tank happens to be one of my favorite new pieces not just for fall, but all year-round because of its simple versatility. You can shop more colors of it here.
Instead of sneakers, a statement bootie that color coordinates with this ensemble is a great choice in footwear. This snakeskin pair is unlike any I’ve seen before, mixing the embossed detail that’s so in demand right now with the simplicity of an every day Chelsea Bootie. Not to mention, the metallic highlights are so eye catching!
Tip: Satin wrinkles very easily so to avoid getting it dry cleaned every time after wearing, consider this handy dandy portable steamer ~ I used mine on this skirt right before photographing and it worked wonders on smoothing the fabric instantly!
